This is our ministry and our mission. This is where boys learn to become men, and where so many lost are eventually found.
I’ve seen plenty of competitive games get out of hand. I’ve seen young men respond with class, and I’ve seen them respond without class. But my favorite moments as a coach’s wife are when the competition breeds community.
Not long ago, our opponent had a player whose grandfather passed away during the game. The coaches and players agreed to come together after the game to lift up the family in prayer.
I can’t help but wonder the impact that moment had or will have on some of those present. I can’t help but wonder what they learned about faith, hope, and love. I can’t help but wonder what they learned about being men and being part of a community.
